Revival

My mind began to drift back this morning to the mid to late nineties when Brownsville was going strong and the fire seemed to be spreading to many other churches and cities. The church I was in was so hungry for God and the pastor was the most desperate man I've ever known. I was the worship leader and many services were totally guided by the Holy Spirit. The worship team would meet before service for prayer and it wasn't uncommon for several members of the team to be so lost in the Spirit or on the floor under the weight of His Glory that they missed the beginning of the service. I will never forget the cry for revival and for souls. Many times during worship the wail of the intercessors rose above the sound of our worship team.

I know the next wave coming is going to be so much greater and more than we have ever imagined. My heart cry is - Lord, please let it be soon! I can't begin to explain why moves of God come in waves. I suspect it's because things need to change in the Body of Christ and flesh gets in the way. I know the enemy also attacks moves of God but he is no match for the Glory of God. Satan can only prevail when the carnality of man gets involved.

I know we are coming into new revelation and the proper alignment of the Body of Christ concerning the apostles and prophets is being accomplished. I believe this proper alignment will bring the next move of God along with signs, wonders, miracles, and societal transformation. I believe the next revival will be more about advancing His Kingdom and changing nations. A new level of authority and governmental anointing will bring us to the place of lasting change.

At the same time, my heart is breaking this morning. Where are the ones who were so desperate for God? Many have just been caught up in life with ordinary things. Many have gone back to contentment with a more reserved, predictable God. Some have fallen away, wondering if it was just an emotion or if God really can make a difference. I feel God's heart...how He longs to be worshiped...how He misses touching His kids...how He wants to change lives and transform nations.

Father, hear the cry of my heart! I want You more than life! I want to see Your Glory!! Please stir us up. Shake us free from anything holding us back from You. Let us be willing to let you out of the box and make room for your Spirit to move. Keep us in the desperate place. Touch us with Your Fire!

I personally witnessed the move of God Gary is talking about! I could not stand to minister and found myself on the floor prostrate, unashamedly weeping in that place of intimacy and power! Worship turned to intercession and back and forth it went. I marveled that Gary could stand, albeit weeping, when almost no one else in the room could. The Sr. Pastor crawled off the platform onto the floor, as if to say, "I am not worthy to be on this platform. Deal with my heart, as well, Lord." I heard the wails of souls grieved over their sin and the lost condition of their loved ones, desperate for God's touch of freedom on their lives. I saw the youth and young adults on fire for God and unable to control His touch on their lives - swept into revival, shaking under His Power, overtaken in intercession, even in public places. I have often wondered out loud, together with Gary, what would have happened if the leadership continued to let God move like that? I know what the Lord prophesied would happen - revival of a city, revival of a region, a generation coming to His love for them! I wonder now...are we, the current leadership, ready to let God move like that through us?! Oh God, please come and try us in this!! We want You to have a place where YOU can be free to be God in our midst! Holy One Worthy of our worship, be glorified through us! Please, Lord Jesus, COME!

I too am in intercession for this city to be the Lords inheritance and for the church of this city to function with the proper balance of the five fold ministry. But I do know that there has to be preparation in the hearts of believers to be able to handle the power and move of God so that the flesh does not come to violate the protocol of being before a holy God without the fear of the Lord. Also fellowshipping with the Lord in His sufferings is a hard message to promote to a society and culture that is so used to comfort and safety as a lifestyle. So I wonder if we are going to have to experience some type of disturbance within this country to awaken hearts in preparation for the moving of God's spirit. I don't think it is in God's heart to bring another revival as America has seen many times before in its history and then after that generation or season that the lukewarmness comes back to the church. I believe the Lord is wanting a preparation of a generation so He can bring a moving of His spirit that will start and not end but grow and grow until His return. That is what I am contending for and preparing my heart for and I don't know if that will occur without Houses of prayer being raised up for night and day prayer furnaces and the proper functioning of apostles and prophets along with pastors and evangelists and teachers. I think we are in the pre-stage preparations of that to start. But we have to be prepared to run the marathon in this process and not a sprint.

Why would anyone give themselves no rest and cry out night and day? What causes a human soul to be willing to volunteer freely? Is it not the unveiling of the unseen, good, bad, and ugly. When the eyes of our heart see what the eyes of heaven see, the brevity of life, the immensity of eternity, the beauty of His eyes, and the terror of His love, the volume of the tidal wave of perversion sweeping away a generation and the complacency of the mothers and fathers drunk and intoxicated with the wine of pleasure . . . the purity of wisdom . . . these spatial relationships come by the apocalypse (uncovering) of the Spirit of Wisdom . . . therefore, "Does not Wisdom cry out?" I join with you in your cry Gary. Until we see Him face to face, we will increase in the intercession of Wisdom . . . unto His Will being done and His Kingdom come.
